This book is a complicated one to review.
While the story and the characters captivated me from the beginning I was
thrown a little by all of the mature themes being in what I thought was a YA
novel. I was especially confused by how
much freedom these teens had even if it was during summer vacation. Those reservations aside this is a very
interesting and intellectually engaging novel.
Gabriel and Tom are just fascinating
characters and I loved how Caden adapted her behavior to better suit which
person was displaying at the time. I
think all of us could benefit from a little bit of Tom in us. He just has such an innocent way of looking
at things, which is especially helpful when you are navigating the tough world
of adolescence.
I am really glad that this book is not the
end of these characters because I am really interested in meeting Gabriel’s
parents and trying to discover what happened to make Tom manifest in the first
place. I also hope to see Caden mature more and continue her dream of cooking.
I love to write just as much as I love to read. I try to read a book per
week, which doesn’t always work out, but it’s the thought that counts.
Aside from all that I am a huge animal person.Transformed is my first novel, but it isn’t my first publication; I’ve had several short stories published over the last two years. My main goal as a writer is to explore humanity and to give people something fun to read.
