I have been waiting for more stories from Garnet for a while…and oh boy was this one a doozie!

Chuito and Alaine have been neighbors for five years, and completely in love with one another.  The problem is that Chu thinks he is the darkness to Alaine’s light and doesn’t want to taint her.  He wants her to be happy with a normal man, not a former gangbanger from Miami. One hot night leads to a crazy journey for both of them.  The question isn’t if their love can survive, but if they can.

I have been waiting for a long time for this story, and it went much deeper than I expected it to go.  I am not complaining!  It was a roller coaster ride in the best way possible. I knew there was a big story here, but the scope was really big.  This was so much more than Chu and Alaine’s story; it was a ginormous buildup to the stories of Tino and Nova.  And oh man I cannot wait for those!!!! 

Chu was not disappointing.  He’s a quiet character in the other stories in this series, and seeing inside his head was awesome. He was fierce and sweet and soft and so badass, the perfect alpha male.  I thought that Kele really transitioned the different POV’s in this book seamlessly. The story really flowed and this was definitely a book that I had a hard time putting down.  My only complaint is that I now have to wait for Tino and Nova’s books.  I feel I really must channel Veruca Salt from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory here and say “But I want it NOW!”  Please Kele, if you have any love for your readers at all, don’t make up wait too long.  5 stars.
