42 Rue de Jardin is the first novel
for this new author and she totally blew me away with her talent. I am
already begging for her next book because she gave us characters that not only
can you relate to, you will fall in love with. Each have their own personality
that brings a touch of life to this story.
Cullan is a middle aged woman who
due to a disfiguring skin disease believes the closest thing to romance she
will ever find is in her eBooks. The desire to feel that emotional
connection to another person is so strong and isolating; she focuses her
attention on her business which proves to be very successful. Wanting to
make her town stronger for the community and those who live there, she takes on
a huge project that will force her to go head to head with Royce Jacobson for a
piece of land that he also wants to advance his career.
The instant attraction is there for
both, but she refuses to believe she would stand a chance with him. Royce
has confidence though, he knows what he wants and he is going to get her, even
if he has to have her investigated to see what Cullan is all about. Once
the two meet and begin building something together, he realizes the secrets she
is hiding and the insecurity she blankets herself with, knowing with his
training in his own version of tantric sex is just what she needs.
This story is just so beautiful; it
is set for the middle aged reader who still believes life can happen for
them. Lucy gives us a story of acceptance, belief and love with Cullan
and Royce, one that will stay with the reader for a long time. She gives
us a story with a taste of the South, with Cullan’s taste in clothing and
behavior. Royce being the gentleman and protector will come to Cullan’s
assistance on more than one occasion leaving the reader sighing over his
southern gentleman ways.
I LOVE this story, I am so happy to
have found Lucy Lit and her book and I look forward to more in the
future. These characters became like a family to me and it was nice to
sit and read a romance novel that felt real and created for the middle aged
generation. We didn’t have this over the top dramatics that goes on in
books these days, yet she gave us hot scenes that will guarantee the reader a
great read and a reminder that they are not dead when over the age of 40.
Lucy tackles some very sensitive
issues such as the skin disease, molestation, rape and insecurity, all topics
approached with respect, dignity and seriousness that are due for such
discussions. She gives us a pure form of love where you put the others
needs before your own goals, and a sense of forgiveness not only for yourself
but for those who have hurt you. Cullan might be insecure but she is a
very strong female character that made me proud. Make sure you get your

Lucy
Lit came to writing late (really late) in life. Unlike many authors, she wasn’t
born with a pen in her hand, nor spent her youth scribbling in journals. A
voracious bookworm, her mother claims Lucy read cereal boxes in her high chair.
She irritated her father during family vacations by burying her nose in a book
rather than viewing the scenery. Once she progressed from Nancy Drew to swiping
her mother’s historical romances, there was no going back.
She
continued her affinity for romance through stints in corporate life and
business ownership. After reading a string of unsatisfying romances, she
decided to write what she wanted to read and the next phase of her life was
born.
Lucy
lives in South Carolina with her husband (Garage Guy), a persnickety feline who
rules the roost, and dotes on her grand-dogs.
Her quirky lifestyle means she does not wear stilettos in her spare
time, but she does wear them when she writes.
