This isn’t a book so much as it’s an experience.  I loved “The Ballad”, so I expected a lot out of this series of novellas.  I was not disappointed at all.

This is the second book in the Bridge Series, and it’s a series of novellas involving characters that we met in the Ballad.  It deals with topics such as life moving on and leaving the familiar, getting your first job and moving out of your parent’s house, unexpected love and the impatience of waiting for your future to just get here already! It revisits old characters and introduces a new one…a really good new one.  Hotness, thy name is Zach Parker/

Honestly, the best part about this book is the characters.  The writing is so thorough and genius that you truly do experience things right along with the characters.  Their heartbreak, excitement, disappointment and confusion that each character experiences are so vivid, the reader is swept up into it.  I loved that.  Great storytelling and characterization.

I also really liked what I felt was the sentiment behind the whole book, which was not to forget where we came from and who we used to be.  Life changes you, experience shapes you, but once we were all falling in love for the first time, moving out on our own and saying goodbye to life-long friends.  To examine where all of these characters had been only served to understand them better all around. 

Overall this was a wonderful collection of novella.  Read the entire Bridge series, some of the best books I’ve read all year. 5 stars.
