Give and Receive by Alisa Anderson

Young, talented, ambitious. Wild.

Three friends, who struggled for fortune and fame, have finally found themselves thrust into mega-stardom.

What is right if there is no wrong…

For Ty, Lena and Danny, they're about to find out as they cross the boundaries from all things safe to an arena testing love, friendship and loyalty. An arena that's forbidden, taboo…and oh so tempting.

They’re riding hard and fast in a world where sex, money, love and rock & roll are all a game of give & receive, where any wish can be granted if you just ask...

Open, honest and raw, this is a rare glimpse of what happens behind the fortune and the fame, beyond the limelight, past the adulation and acclaim.

Welcome...to the real.

Oh LAWD!  Do not read this short story unless you have time for a very cold shower or someone nearby who can lend you a hand (wink, wink).  One of the sexiest books I have read in a while, and that’s saying something.
So, in this story we are introduced to Lena.  She is a “spirited” girl with a big mouth and is not afraid to speak her mind.  She hilarious, independent and plays by her own rules.  The only problem is that she’s been in love/lust with Danny for years.  And Danny is very married, yet everyone seems to know that the feelings between Lena and Danny are very mutual.  It takes some pushing from Ty, Lena’s friend, to stir things up at the bar Lena owns to get some action going.  This is the first part of the story and I have to say…I want part two NOW!
I can’t remember the last time I read a short story like this that simultaneously turned me on and made me laugh, but this book managed to do that!  The sex was so crazy HOT in this book, but the characters are so funny and their antics so zany that you can’t help but get wrapped up in it all.  My only complaint, and I have this for books of this nature not just this particular story, is why not just make it one long book instead of a short story series?  I know this has been explained by authors time and again, but I still think it seems like a shady practice.  Just give us one book!!!
I can’t let that one negative impact my rating for this book though.  It was awesome, and I will definitely be reading more. 5 stars.

I would call this book chapter one in the story of Ty, Lena and Danny.  A quick read that gives us the background on these characters it also provides the reader with a few hot scenes.  I enjoyed the book but felt there were many times the story was lagging and we could have had more new information rather than drawing out the facts the reader was giving us at the time.
Lena is now the owner of a club after working as a journalist.  She met Ty and Danny during her former job and became best friends with Ty and fell in love with Danny.  While Ty feels strong desire for Lena, Danny married another woman and was harboring a secret about himself.  Lena was unable to connect with another man because her heart still belonged to Danny.  Her best friend Reese was anything but sympathetic with the situation and the interaction between the two was harsh yet comical during the book.
Danny is miserable in his marriage.  The author gave us a hint that his heart belonged to Lena but his loyalty to his career kept him with his wife.  Ty clearly knows how Danny feels but he wants Lena for himself and during a particular scene he makes his claim on her in front of Danny.  Things begin to heat up between the three after that, not to mention Ty and Lena’s relationship take on a new twist since they have never been sexual in the past.
The book held my interest and made me want to get to the next book soon but I would have enjoyed it more if there hadn’t been so many long drawn out conversations and extra events.  The characters were rather easy to connect with but the author was able to keep part of all three a mystery, keeping me wanting more from the story.  I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a love triangle story with a few hot scenes.

This is the first book in the Give and Receive Series.  This was a very short story and felt more like a serial than a novella. This book however does give us a nice introduction to the main characters and their relationships with each other. The sexual tension between Lena, Danny and Tyler is so thick it must be explored but in the end real life and responsibilities get in the way.  I am very interested to see how this series continues and will read the next book.

well...alisa did stuff and is still doing stuff. only now she has two boys crazy enuff to want her as their mommy. hey, at least she tried to warn them, so her job is done. she doesn’t like to capitalize, partially because she likes how lower case letters look visually, but mostly out of laziness. please don't judge. it could be you. and she would say, hey. you're alright, buddy. you're ok in my book. now c'mere for a hug. the hug might be pushing it. air kiss? you are strangers, after all, with only a mutual love of poor grammar.
she lives for a world full of controllable anatomically correct, android men programmed to meet her specific feminine needs (wink, wink, nudge, nudge with a big waggle of the eyebrows). who look like the rock. and ian somerhalder. and idris elba. and that's it she promises. variety. gotta have variety, right?
but alas...apparently that exists only in johanna lindsey's genius mind. so until then, she enjoys her incredibly warped sense of humor. she reads tons of erotica and romantic, drippy goo that makes her heart go pitter patter. then she thought, hey. what, she said to herself. (softly, of course, so no one finds out she is indeed, 2 nuts short of a fruitcake) maybe you should write this stuff too. maybe someone will like it and maybe buy it. so she said, huh, you think? then she said, well...yeah, i wouldn't have suggested it...(inserts sarcastic tone) and then she was like lose the attitude, ok? then she was all, would you just shut up and write, already? sheesh! and she did. :)
