The Fire Trilogy Spotlight!

Kian has crossed over from his world to ours to seek revenge. His plan is to kill the monster who murdered his Uncle. The same monster who used magic to escape to our world and is hiding here and growing in strength.

Regan Campbell is a hunter of Demons. The first son, of a first son, he is the one who protects this world from the monsters that no one else knows are here.

When Kian reaches this world, he knows Regan is the perfect man to fight alongside him, but Regan trusts no one.

It isn’t until they are facing death and a terrible evil that will be let loose, that Regan finally realises he can trust another...his fated partner, Kian.

This is the first book in the Fire Trilogy series and it was a wonderful introduction into a world that exists just a side-step of time and space away from ours.

The two main characters were fascinating and I felt so sorry for them and all the pain they had to go through.  Kian grabbed my heart from the very beginning with his refusal to force his mate to honor their bond.  Regan is also a fascinating character in that we don’t really know all that much about him.  Most of the things we discover about Regan are revealed through his interactions with Kian.  I love how honorable and loyal Regan is but I wish we could have met some of his family or maybe learned more about the human’s charged with removing the demons from the Otherworld.

I enjoyed this book and I am hoping we will see more of Regan and Kian in the later books. I am anxious to see how their relationship continues to develop and grow in their very unique circumstances.
This is story one in the Fire Trilogy. Kian is from the Otherworld, and has passed through the Gate to chase down and kill the Danio that stole his uncle’s fire which leads to his death. What separates the Otherworld from our World is fire each one represents an element like water, earth. Regan is a human hunter of demons. He was born into the family business of demon hunting and has been doing this all his life.
Kian crosses over close to All Hallow’s Eve when the two world’s barrier is at its thinnest, stopping at a wooded area that has been known to the Otherworlds for centuries. Regan followed rumors and research of demons in the area and this led him to this tiny wooded area of the Gallatin national Forest. As Regan is having breakfast in a diner, Kian walks up and asks to sit down, telling Regan he knows all about he’s job and wants to help. Regan freaks and leaves. Kian of course follows’, knowing that Regan is Kian’s bonded. The one the seers told him about. Regan, being a hunter is very open to the story that Kian is telling, except the bonded part but will go along to slay the demon/Danio. As long as he can leave when it’s over, Kian agrees knowing that once they bond, it can never be over.
I loved this story! Kian’s selfless determination not only to get revenge for his uncles death, but not to tie Regan down to a bond, he didn’t ask for and doesn’t understand. He’s love and sorrow for leaving his friend, Darach behind. Regan, Alpha get it done attitude, is just enough. And then he’s compassion when he realizes what Kian did towards the end.  I enjoyed that is supernatural but we weren’t bogged down with all the crazy words no one can pronounce or with a storyline you couldn’t follow. Will be jumping right into story # 2.
**Possible Spoilers**
I was wary, just as I usually am with fantasy books. Questions like “Will they overpower it with war?” or “Will the author throw so much information at me that I can’t stand anymore?” crossed my mind. Thankfully, neither question was a problem.
This is the story of Kian who is from a world just slightly off from ours. On All Hallows Eve it can align and demons can cross back and forth between the two worlds. Kian’s here to do a job, but he needs help to do what he came here to do. That he’s given up his life to do so, he doesn’t inform Regan – the man he is destined to join with.
I loved the basic story and am anxious to read #2 now, Darach’s Cariad, as we learn more about Darach – a man we just get glimpses of in this one.
The problem I found – and the reason the book has 3 stars rather than 4 – is that in my mind, their fight with the demon happened way too early. The way it was built up, it should have been at the end of the second act/beginning of the third act and thus have very little after it. Instead, there’s the fight, Regan and Kian’s discussion and then two more chapters that dealt with what I assume is a future storyline. While I can understand wanting to ‘hook’ a reader to read the next book, the author had already done that. Adding in the extras which in fact made their relationship a bit rocky, made it seem as though we were already knee deep into another story…only to have it end and we’re left hanging.

Darach and Ceithin's story.

Darach Gravenor is a keeper of blue Fire. He is alone in his world and he wants to rescue his friend Kian from the horrors of the Other World.

Ceithin Morgan is Cariad. Strong with Ancient magic he teaches Darach that not all children's fairy stories should be believed. Ceithin has his own reasons for helping Darach and shows Darach that there is magic that he never even knew existed.

They are living on borrowed time. Guardian knows what they are doing and he is coming for Ceithin. Darach and Ceithin have two choices -- do they run, or do they make their stand together?

In the second book The Fire Trilogy we are taken into Kian’s world where we are immediately thrown into the action.  I really loved all of the magic and lore that is in this book. Darach and Ceithin are both really interesting characters in that they are both so consumed with a finding someone that they almost miss their soul mate’s appearance.

I was really glad Kian and Regan made appearances in this novel since I really liked their story, but it seems as if Kian is not doing well and I hope everything is resolved in the last book. While I loved the story of Darach and Ceithin I am really looking forward to reading Eoin’s story and finding out how this story ends.
This is the second story in the Fire trilogy. Darach is the best friend of Kian and was left behind when Kian went the Otherworld, because his Fire wasn’t ready. Ceithin is a Cariad, a gypsy, and the person that helped Kian cross over. Now Darach is seeking him out as well, to help him cross over.  Darach can feel that Kian is in danger.
This story starts pretty much where we left the last one, with Kian and Regan fighting the demons and getting use to their new relationship. But something isn’t right, Kian is having nightmares about Darach and Regan is getting more and more frustrated not being able to help and not understanding because Kian won’t let him in. Darach is also having nightmares and is getting increasingly worried about Kian, and has decided that he is going to seek out The Cariad and make them show him how to cross over. Ceithin, has been tortured by the counsel for his Fire and is under a protective spell when Darach happens upon him. Darach breaks the spell and they travel back to the Cariad camp together so Ceithin can teach Darach how to use his Fire before they cross over. During this training they discover that Darach and Ceithin is bond. And Darach will do anything for Ceithin.
This was a good continuation of the trilogy but I didn’t find it as enjoyable as the first. We did get a lot of the questions answered, who, what etc. But the emotional connection between the two MC’s, I didn’t feel it like I felt for Kian and Regan. Nice twist at the end, but you pretty much saw it coming. However, I will me diving into book 3 come Jan 2015!

Eoin is faced with the end of times.

With his friends at his side, can he rescue the prisoner that might hold the secrets to winning the battle between Cariad and City as well as the key to his heart?

His bond brothers, Kian and Darach, probably hate him for his necessary lie and two-thirds of the Council wants him dead. Against all this he has to rescue a prisoner whose Amber Fire is killing him.

The third book in the Fire Trilogy discovers more old Guardians, ancient Cariad magik, and not least of all the other half of Eoin: Trystyn.

This is the final book in The Fire Trilogy by RJ Scott and it is amazing.  I read this book cover to cover in almost one sitting I was so obsessed with finding out what happened to these characters.  The plight of Eoin and Trystyn was so tragic that I was just hoping for everything to turn out okay for them.

While this book was very captivating I was still left with some questions like what happened to Trystyn’s fire when Wynn dies. It didn’t seem all that clear to me. I also really wanted to know more of how they integrate the City and the Cariad back together into one cohesive society again.  The main plot lines are wrapped up but I just wanted more details as to the whole process.

I think that there could be a whole other trilogy set in this world with them establishing a new order and re-integrating the Cariad or maybe concentrating on Regan’s family and their job of eliminating Demons from the Otherworld.  Overall an entertaining and inventive trilogy from RJ Scott.
