Courted by a Knight (In Hyacinth #6) by Bree Cariad

Deeka Williams is uncertain of her courting year. The list of single men in town who are looking for a wife does not give her a lot of hope. Until one of her father’s friends comes over for dinner. Intelligent, a gentleman, and sociable, Curtis Brenten catches her attention quickly, especially after he defends her against a bully. Unfortunately, he also seems to think that no woman would want a man in a wheelchair.

Between trying to convince Curtis that he is not his infirmity and fighting against the bully who delights in teasing her ruthlessly, she’s busy enough. But when she breaks a rule too many times by lashing out, she may have lost everything she has been trying to achieve. Have they built enough of a foundation to weather this storm or will the man she considers her knight walk away?

With every book series that a person follows, there is always the 1 book that they are looking forward to the most out of the bunch.  That one book that they just can’t wait for, and they have such high hopes for as well.

For me personally, it was this book.  Once Ms. Cariad released the order of the books in this series, as soon as I read the blurb for it, I couldn’t wait for it to be released.

The downfall of having such high hopes when it comes to a book, is that usually you are disappointed in what you get as the final project.

THAT TOTALLY WASN’T THE CASE HERE!!!!

I LOVED the way that Ms. Cariad created the relationship between Deeka and Curtis!  And even better than that, I loved how Deeka knew what she wanted, and was willing to go after it with Curtis as well.  I do think that with how Ms. Cariad wrote the story, and giving the background on Curtis added to it, because that really helped move the story along, and make it more believable.

Overall, this is by far my favorite of the series, and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
The rest of the day she spent with her nose in a Curtis Brenten novel. They were riveting. Each paragraph pushed her onto the next, sometimes reading at twice the speed she normally did just because she had to know what was going to happen. Morts-Vivants went quickly, followed by Loup-Garou, Licorne, and she was deep into Farfadet when she heard the front door shut.
 “Deeka!” her dad called.
“Hey, Dad!” she called back, not breaking her eyes from her eReader.
“What’s got you so hooked?” he asked, walking into her room.
Looking up, she grinned. “Curtis’s books. I’m reading Farfadet at the moment.”
“Ahh, Detective Avrahm verses the leprechaun. Obviously you’re enjoying them?”
“Page turners,” she said emphatically, making him chuckle. “I’m not sure which one I like best! He does such an amazing job at weaving in mysticism and reality to where I’m almost believing the creatures exist…and yet like Avrahm, I’m sure there is a logical reason for what goes on.”
“Curt’s a great writer.” He paused, looking deep in thought. “Would you mind if I invited him over to dinner a few nights a week until he gets settled?”
“Mind? Nope! Maybe I can pick his brain about some of the stuff in his books.” Pausing as he turned to leave her room, she said, “Dad?”
“Yeah?” He looked over his shoulder as he paused at her doorway.
“I like him.” As much as she tried to say it without emotion, she felt the tell-tale blush enter her cheeks.
One of those inscrutable expressions crossed his face, which made it impossible to tell what he was thinking. “Deek, I have a very high opinion of him, but the man isn’t from here and doesn’t understand our way of life.”
“I know. And after Mom, I can understand not wanting to get involved with an outsider. But…he’s fascinating, the kinds of things he’s done so far. I’d just like to get to know him better.” Knowing her father would want to be sure she meant it, she looked him straight in the eyes and waited while he gazed at her.
A small smile crossed his features and if she was any judge, it looked as though her father was pleased with her reaction. “Good to know. And it looks like he plans on staying. He says he really likes what he’s seen of Hyacinth so far. Now, finish Farfadet so that you can discuss the reality of leprechauns with him tonight.”
“He’s coming tonight?” she asked, half sitting up.
“Yep.”
“Shall I make another dessert?” Placing her eReader down, she slid off the bed, already slipping her toes into a pair of sandals.
“That would be perfect, Deek. I’m going to throw together a meatloaf. And, so you know? He has a love for anything chocolate.” Winking at her, he left the room, leaving her with a high-grade blush and a huge grin on her face.

Bree enjoys good books with great characters. While she may be an adult, her favorite memories are from her teenage years reading inspirational romance with girls just like her and strong heroes. That's one of the reasons she's written In Hyacinth, a series of Courting Romances.

Courting Romance - where contemporary romance meets traditional values.

His Damsel in Distress (Corbin’s Bend Season Three #1) by Thianna D.

You've known the name Corbin's Bend for a while - now meet the man it was named after.

Corbin Nelson stayed in New York with his non-spanko wife when all of his friends built and moved to Colorado. With his reason for staying in the city gone, and his trust ripped to shreds, he moved to Corbin’s Bend to make a new start. His one rule: he would never give his heart away again. It only took a couple weeks for him to question that tenet when he rescued the same damsel in distress twice.

Zinnia Loraine bought into Corbin’s Bend to hide: from the paparazzi, a scandal, and most of all from a deranged fan. She thought she could hide in her home and stay safe and secure. When her car broke down and she was rescued by Corbin, all thoughts of hiding fled as she was instantly attracted to the tall, middle-aged man. That he was an alpha male who spanked and loved curvy women just made it even better.

Unable to keep their hands off one another after their first date, they both were in this for fun… until her stalker found her and they both realized how much they cared for one another. With his damsel in distress once again, this time Corbin had to call on others to help him. Would he and Zinnia get their happily ever after? Or would his rescuing days be through? If the stalker had his way, their happiness was about to end.

Oh my goodness Ms. D. did you kick off the third season of Corbin’s Bend or what!?!?!?! I absolutely LOVED His Damsel in Distress and know without a doubt that I will be rereading it. As a full-figured gal myself, I connected to Zinnia immediately. I felt badly for her that she was forced to change her name and move because of a stalker, but at least she found a wonderful community to move to. As Brent pointed out later in the book, what better place to hide out from a stalker than a community filled with highly observant Alpha males? Yep, Corbin’s Bend was the best place for her to go. And the fact that its namesake happened to move to the community within a week of her just made it that much better.

The opening scene of His Damsel in Distress is a heartbreaking introduction to Corbin Nelson, the man that Brent named Corbin’s Bend after. Corbin has to watch his wife of 17 years die as he gives the order to have her removed from life support. I was so glad that Brent was there to console Corbin because when he broke down, I just wanted to hold the man while he cried. Thankfully Brent’s support didn’t end at the hospital and he was able to accompany Corbin to the lawyer’s office to go over the will. And boy did he need Brent’s calming presence when he learned that his wife had been stealing money from him for years – I was angry for him. While we weren’t subjected to the full contents of the letter she left him to read upon her death, the parts that were shared were absolutely wretched. I was so relieved when he told Brent he was moving to Corbin’s Bend because that man needed his friends and a fresh start.

One of the many things I liked about the book is that we get a chance to know Zinnia and Corbin as individuals before they get involved. Despite coming to Zinnia’s rescue and having a hard time getting her out of his mind, Corbin does not immediately seek her out and vice versa. They each took some time to get settled in their new homes and the community before their first date. As neither is looking for a relationship and both want to be more than “just friends,” their relationship takes on a comfortable feel that made watching it progress quite enjoyable for me. Their chemistry is intense yet fun, which made for some really great sex scenes that got even better as they began to fall for one another. Despite my enjoyment of their superb sex life, my absolute favorite thing about His Damsel in Distress is that Corbin did not get his panties in a twist when he found out about Zinnia’s stalker and that she was using a fake name. Considering his wife’s dishonesty and how she left him feeling betrayed, I just knew that Corbin was going to cut ties with Zinnia when her secret came out. Thankfully I was wrong because not only did he not get mad at her, he “manned up” and did what he could to help insure her safety. Ms. D. has brought a lot of suspense, humor, steamy sex, and romance to Corbin’s Bend with His Damsel in Distress and I cannot wait to see what else the season holds.
“Calbert says there’s a pancake house about an hour’s drive which is pretty good. Well worth the trip. So, do you want to stay here and eat omelettes? Or go for a drive and get some fluffy pancakes?”
His eyes met hers and a large grin crossed his face. “Or is your mind on other pursuits, Miss Loraine?”
A sudden image of her across his desk and him spanking her came to mind. Obviously with him around, thinking clearly was going to be an issue. She put on her best innocent look and batted her eyelashes. “But, Mr. Nelson, whatever could you mean?”
His eyes widened and she saw it. They contracted and she realized that animal he spoke of truly came to life. Well, damn, she was going to use that more often.
Leaning in, he rested his forehead against hers and his nose touched her own. “Well, Miss Loraine,” he said in a firm, deep voice. “Your choice. We stay here, which means I make you breakfast, fuck you, and if you’re a really, really good girl I might let you suck me off. Or…” Her mouth dropped open and she could imagine herself drooling. She was instantly ready for option one. “We go to breakfast. Which means you suck me off in the car on the way up or the way back and…” He paused and cocked his head. “What sex toys do you have?”
Surprised, she pointed past him at the small side table. “In there.”
Reaching out, he opened the door and pulled out her small box of toys. Dumping them on the bed, he grinned. “Oh yeah. Okay, so option two is you suck me off on the way while wearing this.” He picked up her shiny silver butt plug which had a small purple jewel in the base. “And then, if you’re a really good girl when we get home I’ll spank your ass, remove the plug, and fuck you. How does that sound?”
A little whimper left her lips. She loved anal sex, almost more than vaginal. How had he known? “In the ass?” she asked hopefully.
He blinked and his smile widened. “Hot damn. Yes.”
As he hopped up again, obviously ready for either option, she sent him a sultry smile. “And what if I’m a really, really bad girl?”
Thianna D. likes to say she’s eclectic, fun, and just a bit naughty. She writes romance with both M/F and M/M main characters. No matter what she writes, all the hot scenes support the story instead of the other way around.
She’s also the creator of and acquisition editor for the Corbin’s Bend spanking romance series. Who else wants to be safe, secure, and spanked in Colorado?
Also writes under the name Thianna Durston.

Guest Review by: Miranda
Mob Mistress is book two in The Bossman Series by Renee Rose. These can be read as stand-alone but the characters from book one do make an appearance in book two so you will know parts of their story in reading out of order.

Ms. Rose has a good writing style. The scenes flow well and the transitions between H/h’s POVs is easy to follow. My only complaint really is that it sometimes feels rushed or like she had more to say, but held back — which could be because this is more a novella than a full-length novel. I love novellas, but when there are stories with a lot of twists and turns it can mean that the little details get missed along the way. It’s the nature of the beast, I suppose.

Bobby Manghini is a mobster. He likes his women submissive to his every desire and even though he takes good care of what’s his he doesn’t want more than a goomah. It’s convenient and keeps his sex life separate from his home life.

Lexi Tyler is down on her luck. Drowning in bills she finds herself considering a relationship with a man she would never have give the time of day. Is having a sugar daddy the solution to all of her problems or is it going to be too good to be true?

I really enjoyed this story. There is good chemistry between the characters and even though it’s insta-love there is enough development in the relationship that it doesn’t feel forced. The smutty parts are off the charts hot hot hot… and the spankings… more please!!

All in all, this is a three star read for me based on storyline and four wet panties for the smut factor. If you are looking for a good sexy book, this one is definitely for you. I’ll be looking forward to reading more from Renee Rose.

(Warning: If you do not enjoy reading books with domestic discipline and sexual submission this book will not appeal to you. Normally, I wouldn’t leave a warning, but the spankings in this book are intense and are used for punishment in some instances.)

This is a pretty quick read with some very hot sex/bedroom scenes.  Even though it is Book #2 in the author’s Bossman Series, it does well as a stand-alone.
Lexi is about to get evicted – from her apartment and her job. In over her head with medical bills from a car accident, her best friend suggests she look for a Sugar Daddy to pay for everything. Thinking she is kidding, Lexi agrees to meet Bobby when Gina wants to introduce them.
Bobby works in construction, but uses his business to help out the “Family”.  His line of work and the fact that he has a set of nineteen year old twin girls doesn’t allow him to bring girls home. His last sugar baby didn’t work out, so he likes what he sees when he meets Lexi.
After one hot round of sex, Bobby offers Lexi the arrangement of her dreams. The only catch is that she has to be available to him anytime, anyplace, and any way he wants.
The sex scenes are definitely HOT and the story is pretty good. There is a lot of spanking in this book, which is Bobby’s kink. While it’s not my thing, it did add to the couple’s relationship, creating conflict and a catalyst to either move forward or end things.
While I enjoyed this book, it wasn’t a wow one for me.

Logan and Christian have settled into a nice comfortable relationship. Logan is about to finish college and Christian has been working for his father. Christian just moved into an apartment and is excited that he and Logan will finally be living together. But all is not well; Logan is out of sorts, grumpy all the time, not sleeping, not wanting to see his parents. And Christian is at a loss on what to do.  Finally he calls Gregory and he helps him find a mentor for the DD relationship explaining that Logan needs structure and rules and possible a good spanking.  Christian has known the day would come when he would have to take charge of the relationship and Logan but all this is new and with Logan not talking he’s even less certain. Can they sort this out or are they doomed before they even set up house?

Once again, a very well written story, you can seeing the maturity and grow not just with Logan and Christian but with all the characters.   We are focused on the DD again, but unlike the other stories, we get what that means explained better and in more detail. This was a nice wrap up of every ones lives and where is they now, and where are they going.

Took My Breath Away by Thianna D

Sometimes taking control is what you need to do and sometimes the best thing you can do is give that control up.
In the summer between Logan's junior and senior years of college, these two will find out more about each other and themselves than they imagined.
While unhappy to be missing four weeks of Christian's company, Logan is thrilled to spend a month with his father's relatives in New York. A naturally gregarious individual, he is used to winning people over and getting things right. Unfortunately, the Mannettes are not what he expects and for the first time in his life, he finds himself seriously doubting who he is.
Christian has regained some of his old self-esteem and is taking on new challenges. Besides growing in the relationship he has with Logan, he takes the time his boyfriend is away to learn more about domestic discipline. He learns a little online but it is actually Gregory, Logan's father, where he gains most of his information. Including the fact that his natural strength puts him in a leadership position he isn't expecting.
When Logan returns to a strong, self-assured Christian, it is with complete relief. As discussions turn to domestic discipline and they realize their true roles within their current and future relationship, both of them are able to let their inhibitions go and together their connection grows surprising Logan to an epiphany.
*Warning: Contains BDSM elements with M/M spanking scenes.*

We are back with Logan and Christian. This one starts with Logan coming home from school and to his boyfriend of six months. This is the summer break he will meet his father side of the family for the first time, excited and nervous he heads to New York City. Only to find that they are not what he expected and he’s not sure he can live up to their exceptions and not sure he wants to. With the grueling schedule that he is being put through to make him a better man, he has stopped calling Christian, this worries him. So he and Gregory head to The City and recue Logan. But is it too late?

This is another well written story of young love and two men trying to make a relationship work, over long distance, family drama and personal demons. But once again spanking and a DD relationships is a major focus of this book, and one quote that really didn’t sit well with me, basically I interpreted it say if a couple wasn’t in a DD relationship, than that couple couldn’t be on the same emotional level. It’s the DD that gives you the connection…. Really….
